How to calculate the investor's marginal tax rate with this information...?
Q. A 8.4% general obligation bond is issued by the state of NY and sells for a par value of $5000. If an investor can earn a yield on an IBM corporate bond of 9.88% at which point he would be indifferent between the 2 bonds, what is the investor's marginal tax rate?
It's a hw question for finance and I have no idea how to find it.

A. 8.4 / 9.88 = 85%
1 - .85 = .15
The marginal rate is 15%
Thus, if you receive 9.88% on a taxable bond, you pay 15% of that in tax and you have 85% remaining, which is the equivalent of 8.4% yield

Can someone please answer my question about filling out the FAFSA?
Q. Okay i just finished the sectioned called 'Your Parents Information' which asked a bunch of questions about their finances. Now I'm on the section called 'Your Finances'. Does that mean my finances or my parents because i don't have a job and don't make any money so there's no way that i can fill that part out, but the questions have to be answered. Can someone please tell me if this section is asking about mine or my parents finances?
A. Well,if you are under 24.and are going on your parents financial history.then you must answer it,but if they want your financial history. And you don't currrently have any money.Where it says amout.I'd just put 0.00.Or give them your last known Job.I don't have a job and am on Disability. And i had to put what i got from that.I would imagine if you have 0.just put 0.00??
How can I delete a replied to a yahoo finance question on the message board?
Q. How can I delete a replied to a yahoo finance question on the message board.
A. You can only delete questions that you asked, and you can only do that while they are still 'open'. Once a question is in 'voting' or has been resolved via a Best Answer being chosen, the question belongs to Y!A and is in their database forever (or until they start archiving old Q&As anyway).
It works the same way for answers: only your own answers & only as long as the question is open for answers.
You can also email Yahoo Customer services at y_answers_team@yahoo.com or y_answrs_team@yahoo.com and ask for them to delete the question for you. In your email include the link to the question you want deleted, explain why you want it deleted and ask them to delete it for you.
To delete your question (or answer) while it's still open, go to the question page, pass your mouse over the pencil icon in the toolbar below your question, and click on Delete.
