Why does the Bush administration feel it's so important to have a phoney "mock" census held this year?

Q. I am being asked personal finance questions by order of law by the Census dept. They state it's a "dress rehersal" for the real one but they insist on knowing my personal finances. Does anyone know what their real motive is for this invasion of privacy?

A. Wow! I didn't know this was happening! (On second thought, I might be naieve...)!

I didn't KNOW... that the "Bush administration" was conducting any kind of 'census'... "I" seriously 'doubt' that the "Bush administration" is conducting ANY kind of 'CENSUS'...

I'm GUESSING - tell me if I'm WRONG - that these are PHONE CALLS...

"by order of law by the Census dept".!?!?!?!? PLEASE... make SURE... Get it in BLACK AND WHITE - as in a PRINTED PIECE of PAPER... Not just someone on the phone!!! Don't get 'hood-winked'! For all you know, it might be your local TV or RADIO station, or NEWSPAPER), or ANY (sleaze-bag or not) operation, looking to get some 'numbers' - at any cost... so they can "SAY", or 'predict', what is 'going-on!'

However... I CAN imagine ALL KINDS of 'CENSUS's being conducted... more as 'POLLS'... of the voting populace! They might be trying to 'SLANT' their questions... SEE if they can get a "RISE" out of you , by saying it is the "Bush administration" asking the questions. MAYBE you can "QUOTE" whoever called you! I rather think that they gave you a 'speal', that made you THINK that... which understandably, 'ticked-you-off!'.

I don't like THAT kind of 'STUFF' either... and I've had LOTS of calls... It's a 'shame' that the "NO-CALLS" thing doesn't include the lame-brains who will promise anything to get a pledge...

Here is what I do... (and, admittedly, there may be better strategies, but...) I tell them to SEND me a brochure... or whatever, and do NOT keep calling me! Yes, I'll give them (depending...???) my 'snail mail...'

I have found that USUALLY, I will get NOTHING through the 'snail mail!' (It costs them POSTAGE, plus printing, etc., if they SEND it to me)!

If they DO send whatever they have, then "I" have the 'option' of reading it, and following-up, or tossing it onto the fire!

Hope this helps, or at least gives you something to THINK about!!!

What are some online discussion forums regarding personal finance, bankruptcy and debt collection?
Q. What are some of te better online forums where I can discuss and ask questions about personal finance, bankruptcy, dealing with unruley collectors and cleaning up my credit report after filing bankruptcy?

I know it will take YEARS to rectify my credit report but there are always dirty collectors who refuse to make the appropriate reportings and i'd like to talk with people who are having similar experiences that i am having...

What are some great personal finance books for young adults?
Q. I'm still in college and know very little about personal finance. My parents manage to get by but I really question some of their decisions at times because I'm further in debt with loans than my friends in the same situation. I wanna manage my own finances with saving, investing, debt management, stocks. etc. What are some recommendations for good programs or books for this? Thanks.

A. Without a doubt the best for me is TOTAL MONEY MAKE OVER, by Dave Ramsey. Learn how to live your life to become debt free, and especially start young, and be really free of credit interest in order to be financially stable early. You also become quite healthy for your retirement.

Check out his web site http://www.daveramsey.com.

Can you buy life insurance for your kid if you don't have a job?
Q. Personal Finance question.
Thanks but I just wanted to let you all know I'm a 17 year old HS student and I don't have kids.
Just a question. Thanks again for your help.

A. They don't care if you have a job, only that you can make the payment.
