Q. I am a student at Trinity Western University in BC, Canada. My current car insurance company will only cover me through March since I am in Canada and I am finding it hard to find an insurance company that will cover me. I am trying to avoid at all cost having to get the government-issued BC car insurance because I probably wouldn't be able to afford school (it is ridiculously expensive). Anyone have any ideas?
A. You can pay for the insurance on a quarterly plan but you have to get ICBC as the whole province works that way. You might even get a monthly payment option.
It is that or ride the bus.
US insurance policy would have transpired anyways because that is for USA only. You talk to your car insurance company and they may say that they cover you (but when it comes to an accident) they forgot you because they have a statement on the insurance policy that speaks of out of country insurance coverage. There isn't any.
Just the same as ICBC going south-- it is a temporary coverage for a visit but one usually gets additonal coverage in case of an accident across the border.
Really, take the time to understand what the "legal obligations are of the insurance companies"

When do you have to buy car insurance?
Q. When do you have to buy car insurance? I've just bought my first car privately and expect to drive it home next Tuesday. However, I'm confused about the insurance. When should my insurance policy start? Does it have to be next Tuesday, too?
A. For car insurance the best way to get a great quote is do a policy comparison on car policies. Make certain that you compare similar options with the same deductibles, auto type, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.
What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at
http://best-car-insurance-comparator-usa.blogspot.com/ since they have top name insurers and can give several quotes on auto insurance polices.

How can we make health care insurance work like car insurance?
Q. Everyone is familiar with how car insurance works. Its available to all. Its pretty cheap. They can't drop you from coverage even if you are a drunk driver. Once you have a accident they dont raise you rates too much.
Why can't health care be more like Geico (insurance) and your local car repair man (doctor) and the DMV (government help)?

A. Because the right say that it would be a bad thing for Americans to have access to affordable health insurance that does not drop them on the orders of a death panel.

What is the best resource for getting short term car insurance?
Q. I am looking for a short term car insurance in UK, can someone please recommend some affordable and reliable companies?
A. Well, you posted to the USA board, so my recommendation, is to see a broker in the UK, NEAR YOU.
Because posting to the USA board, probably isn't going to get the job done.
