Q. Why doesn't the United States have universal health care system? I mean, we are the only nation in the developed world that doesn't have an universal health care system (same with the death penalty). We have more than 300 million people in the United States, and if we add an extra tax (a tax around 1.5% depending on the salary of the person), then we should have an extraordinary amount to fund an universal health care system. What are your thoughts? Thanks for answering!
A. The health industry is a billion dollar business and have a powerfull lobby. So we have to pay exceptionally high premiums. We are second in the world for cost but 37th in quality for health care. This is also why there is so much resistance to the new health care plan. I live in a country with socialized health care and it is excellent. Many american tourists have gotten care here and it has cost them nothing.
What can the United States do to lower health care cost?
Q. The health care system in the United States is in trouble. Many people can't afford insurance or go to the doctor. Many bankruptcies are the cause of health care cost. Something really needs to be done in the United States to improve our health care.
A. Need to start with not letting people have these ridiculous lawsuits on stupid things. There is a huge lack of personal responsibility in this country. Huge! Yes the medical industry needs to own up, as do insurance companies, but they are at the top of the pyramid. The base (the individual) needs to still take the larger responsibility. For example: Some people see welfare as a free ride and there is no incentive to make them get out, get a job with benefits; also, people are going to ERs at an alarming rate because they have a cold. They know the ER cannot refuse them treatment but the ER doesn't recoup their losses so they pass them on to those insured. Just like people filing (and sometimes winning frivilous lawsuits, which starts the domino effect of rising malpractice insurance, passed on of course to the patients who did not sue. Evil cycle. PUSH PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!
Will universal health care for the United States mean that doctors will make less money?
Q. I have a friend who told me that if the United States has universal health care then doctors will make less money. Can somebody tell me if this is true, and if it is, why will they make less money?
zach v, they're not talking about nationalizing the health care industry, they're talking about making available a health care plan to all americans, reguardless of age and health, that is affordable. doctors aren't going to be employed by the government.

A. They may come out better in the long run. Do you know how many
millions of dollars health care providers loose yearly from people who can't or won't pay for their medical services rendered.
This way they are guarenteed to get paid even though it might be considerably less.

what has already been done in order to solve United States health care problems?
Q. what solutions have already been proposed in order to solve united states health care problems (it didn't have to work)
A. *SIGH*
We do NOT have a health care problem in the United States.
What we do have is a health INSURANCE problem. Part of that problem is lobbyists for the insurance companies writing a bill that was made law that forces EVERY American to buy health insurance.
