Can I lease a car in the USA and insure in Canada?
Q. I'm on a work VISA from Canada in New York. I travel from Montreal to New York often.

I want to lease a new BMW in New York/New Jersey. Can I register and insure in Montreal, Canada?
What if my intentions are to stay in the US and my insurance company in Canada offers me a better rate even with the international insurance package. Is there any way I can benefit from the US auto prices and Canadian insurance rates?

A. No, of course not. Since you would not be returning it to the US, the car would have to be imported legally into Canada. The leasing company would lose control, so they would not allow it. Plus, you are not the owner of the property in question to start with. Not only that, a leasing company in New York would not be licenced to collect Quebec sales taxes.

Edit:
You are resident in New York, not Montreal. You are travelling to Montreal, not moving. Your insurance is based on where both you and the car live. If you move to Montreal, you may be able to have the lease transferred to Montreal, assuming the model is compliant with Canadian standards, and is eligible for import, AT THE DISCRETION OF THE LEGAL OWNER, but if your job is in New York, you cannot register and insure in Montreal because you do not live there, period.
And if it were possible, you would have to pay all the taxes and duties up front, anyway.
You are trying to have your cake and eat it too, but it just doesn't work that way.

What is the law if someone hits a flashing fire truck?
Q. The fire truck is responding to a call, it is flashing and giving warning siren passing through an intersection and someone hits it at the intersection.

I want to know what all legal action/penalties someone will face.
In US or Canada.

A. Charges - Failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
Penalties - Damages to the fire truck, damages to any public property. In extreme cases, you can be sued by insurance companies for holding up the fire truck.
