Does Medicaid cover getting your tubes tied?

Q. I want to get my tubes tied as I have 4 kids. Will Medicaid cover this. Or what about a vasectomy for my husband? We live in Michigan if that makes a difference.

A. This is just personal experience, but I suggest you have your tubes tied vs a vasectomy for your husband. My ex-husband and I decided not to have more children and we were deciding if I had it or he. I chose to have and am glad I did, since we subsequently got divorced and the 1st thing I thought was, thank god, I had my tubes tied, or otherwise may have found myself pregnant again if I was "unlucky"

With you having 4 kids already, you maybe prone to be more fertile and most other birth control methods may have failed you in the past.

Granted, many people get upset about people being on Medicaid, since most likely you are also on food stamps and other assistance, so we as taxpayers are paying for your care and help. But, many times, this happens through no fault of your own, so hopefully Medicaid will pay for it, since the end result, taxpayers pay less in the end.

If;;;;Medicaid does not pay, then go to a plan parenthood clinic, since most only charge based on income, and most likely very little in your case.

good luck

Does Medicaid cover colored contact lenses in Michigan?
Q. I really don't like wearing glasses. But my sight is really bad. I mean like so bad, that without my glasses, I can't see anything clearly unless it's like eleven inches away from my face. So I asked my mom if I could get contacts, she said I could if my medicaid covered it. And my eyes are brown, but my friends say I'd look better with green eyes. So does medicaid cover colored contacts? Or non-colored contacts?

A. Why would my tax dollars pay for your lenses for cosmetic reasons? Are you nuts? They will probably cover regular old contact lenses.

Tell your mom to stop milking the government.

Does Medicaid cover for braces in Virginia for teens?
Q. I'm planning to get braces. My front teeth go outward. Since, I have medicaid as my health insurance, will medicaid cover for my braces? especially in virgnia?

thank you.

A. I doubt it - but check with Social Services to see if there is a Rural Health Network dentist in the area - they go on a sliding scale basis (or free) OR check to see if there is a dental college in your area. That is the new place for people to be going to get their dental work done - it's done by students, supervised by the dental professor, and it's way cheaper than a regular dentist. Don't worry, the students have already gone through their learning, it's just a little practical experience they need. You won't know the difference between a dental student or the regular dentist.

Anyone in Virginia know if medicaid covers circumcision?
Q. I just want to know if Virginia medicaid covers it and if so is it only before a certain amount of time? I could care less if anyone has their opinions on whether or not I should get my baby circumcised. It my and my husbands decision and we equally agree on getting it done. So don't answer if all you have to say is things against it.

A. In Florida it does. I wouldn't see why not in Virginia. You could ask your doc. at your next prenatal visit and ask. My doc. gave me a little pamphlet about it (when i was pregnant with my son), Here though, you dont get it done in the hospital right after you give birth when you have Medicaid, you have to make a seperate appointment to get it done by a Medicaid provider.. .or at the Health Department Clinic. Call your local Health Department, they'll know for sure.
