How do you add a link to your question?

Q. I notice some questions include a link to a news article or wikipedia etc to make a point about your question or answer. How do you do this?

A. To create a 'hyperlink' or simply a 'link' in your text of your questions and/or answers, you just need to type the full URL of the website including the "http://" part.

Look at this: www.msn.com will be http://www.msn.com

Did you get it?

You can also just copy & paste the URL from the address bar of your browser. Look at this screen shot:

What are the categories Beauty Contestants compete in during a Beauty Pageant?
Q. Wikipedia, answers, google...etc do not list the categories

Outside of the obvious evening gown, bathing suit, talent competitions....what else is there?

Thank you! :)

I would like to also know more about the preliminary choosing of the contestants.....basically I'm looking for some one who watches these contests and can give me a basic overview of how it all works....Thx!

A. Every pageant is different, so it's impossible to give you a "standard" answer, but I'll do what I can. Aside from eveningwear/swimwear/talent, some other categories may be:
Interview (with judges offstage, or onstage, usually asked by the MC)
Casualwear/runway model/fashion model
Sportswear/Pro-Am modeling
Outfit of Choice (can be anything, but usually not talent)
Photogenic/Portfolio
Westernwear
Some pageants have tons of optionals, and include ones like art contests, essay contests, best thank you letter to a sponsor or director, etc. A lot of children's pageants are the ones that have tons of optionals, but it varies.

With your second question, since all pageants are different, again my answer won't be correct for every pageant. But many times, such as with the televised pageants, contestants compete in preliminary competitions in the days before the pageant. Usually these are eveningwear, swimwear, judges' interview, and talent (for Miss America, not for Miss USA.) Based on their scores here, a top 10 is chosen. Then there will be onstage events (usually just an onstage version of whatever they were judged on before, like the Top 10 swimsuit/eveningwear), and then it's narrowed to a Top 5. To select the winner, usually an onstage interview question is asked (sometimes everyone gets a different question, sometimes they all get the same one), and sometimes they do talent. Then the queen and her court are chosen! I hope this helps!
