what are some good homeowner insurance companies in Louisiana area ?

Q. i want to have different quotes from different companies !
but i don't know much about this..
by the way what is the average premium homeowner insurance in LA ?

A. LA has the second highest homeowners insurance rates in the USA, and since Hurricane Katrina, most insurance companies won't even write a policy in that state.

Look, you need to contact a local, INDEPENDENT agent in your area, to show you quotes from as many companies as they can find, in LA. Don't be surprised if there's only one, the state insurance of last resort, depending on your location.

You can find a local, independent agent at www.iiaba.net by typing your zip code in to the agent locator button.

To the best of my knowledge, State Farm isn't writing new homeowners insurance policies in the state of Louisiana.

Why are conservatives unwilling to let private insurance companies have public competition?
Q. I hear all the time that the government is inefficient and terrible.

Now conservatives are saying that if there is a public insurance option, run by the government and funded entirely by subscriber premiums, private insurance couldn't compete.

So why not let the free market decide who is more efficient? Why the need to protect private insurance if it's so efficient?
Please Note:

The proposed Democratic plans would be financed 100% by subscriber premiums, just like any insurance company. No tax dollars would be used.

A. Republicans are reacting purely on ideology. Most of them have no clue as to what is being proposed for universal healthcare. They simply parrot some right wing nutjob they heard on the radio and are getting all riled up over something they don't even understand.
The average Republican gets screwed on a daily basis by the collusion between the insurance companies and the healthcare providers, yet instead of reacting to THAT, they react based on some ideology they've been indoctrinated into.

I am trying to contest Total square footage of my home, against an insurance company, how do I measure this?
Q. Looking for Total Sq footage of living area of house. Living area includes what space in house? Basement would not be included?

How do I determine total square footage of my house and measure it? My insurance company and I are way off and its affecting my premium. The insurance rep did not even come in my house he walked around and came up with his own figure.

A. Living area should not include any unfinished areas such as basement or semi-finished rooms such as an attic that was converted to a BR but does not have electric or heat ducts.

Square foot = L x W in feet
Room = 12ft x 10ft = 120 SqFt

How do you get rid of a bladder infection?
Q. I think I have a bladder infection. It doesn't hurt when I pee, but I have some sensitivity in my bladder area and urethra(tingling feeling) and I have been urinating a lot. I drank a lot of water today. Should I just drink cranberry juice? I don't feel bad enough to go to the doctor. I have a high premium health insurance plan and can't afford a visit right now. If I try to treat it on my own, how long do they take to go away? When should I go the doctor?

A. You can drink cranberry juice until you can get to the doctor but if it is indeed an infection, it will not go away until you see a doctor and get on some antibiotics.
