Q. There are a few ponds in my area that have gasoline in them and others that I'm questioning the health of, so I'm wondering if there is a way to test and restore their health. And if so can you please tell me how? Thanks!
A. A good deal of this depends on what part of the country you are in. Though it does sound as if the troubles you are dealing with regarding your ponds is a small version of what is happening in the Gulf -- sadly.
The three sources I would get in touch with are the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), The Nature Conservancy, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The reason I suggest the DNR first is that have more offices that can potentially respond much more quickly than the others.
Here are some quick indicators on the health of a pond (again, where you are is key):
*Number of turtles you can spot on a nice day sunning themselves
*Toads or frogs can be seen, heard, or both
*Active birds (red-wing blackbirds and goldfinches for example) are easy to spot
*Do the cattails around the pond go through a regular cycle
*Does the pond look to have a higher water mark after a heavy rain
The link below might help.
Best of luck!

A. Error 999 IS a Ban ... a censor tool, used by Yahoo
Help-link:- (( http://www.murraymoffatt.com/software-problem-0011.html )
Error 999 has been around for years, it is a code big daddy yahoo has in place , a censoring code. A code to stop whatever you are browsing / posting, and answers being a little section of yahoo has inherited the error. If you get this error when trying to answer a question in answers....
If you have access to your router, get in there, tighten your firewall, drop port scanner access, and drop bogons. Look at your traffic and you will see a lot of data being transferred even when you are doing nothing. Block the IP addresses affected, Check all your PCs for viruses.
You can do a few things if you are impatient ( re cleanup computer, dump temp files etc) but this will not help error 999 the best option if you have a dynamic IP is to do a full "flick of the switch", and when you power back up you will come back with a new IP, ( with some turn off comp for 8 hours), but usually you get a new IP when you power up straight after the shutdown, you can continue posting the link under the new IP.
Best quick fix >>>> login to your Yahoo! mail via an international server... http://world.yahoo.com/ and access your mail / ya / 360 /games from there by clicking the mail icon, stay within that browser. That, is the best temp fix for the system
Also reply to Yahoo using the link they give you in that Error 999 page. I did it once or twice and I was free from the Error. It has been said that answering, voting too quickly may cause that Error. So give some gap of 2-3 mins between any two Questions you answer.
Good Luck! :)

How to ask a question about health to people?
Q. Hi, I have a work friend who's had stroke recently and he's having another problem with his health, so I wonder How should I ask him a question about his health. Can I ask a question like this? "How's your health been lately?"
Thanks in advance.
Man, I knew someone just going to give me advice saying not to ask about the question like that. I really appreciate your answer but could you just give me the proper way to ask a question about one's health other than "how's your health been lately?
Thanks in advance.

A. That's just a little bit too direct, if he's just a work friend. You could ask him a more general question, for example, "How are you these days? Everything going OK?"
If he wants to tell you more, he can; but if he doesn't want to, he can answer you generally and say, "Oh I'm fine, thanks". Then you can both change the subject.
